Chargers re-sign DT Brandon Mebane to 2-year contract

Defensive tackle Brandon Mebane signed a two-year deal to remain with the Chargers on Wednesday.

The exact terms of Mebane’s contract have yet to be announced, but it’s likely that it’s cheaper from his previous three-year, $13 million deal.

The 12-year veteran is still going strong and has improved his play over the past three seasons with Los Angeles since being signed after his time with the Seahawks from 2007 through 2015.

Mebane started all 12 regular season games in 2018. He missed four games after dealing with the loss of his daughter. Mebane was still dominant, amassing 53 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.

After missing four games including the Wild Card win over the Ravens, Mebane came back for the Divisional Round game at the Patriots.

The Los Angeles native brings another veteran leader to the defense and will be a strong voice in the locker room.
