Celtic fans react angrily to Neil Lennon review update as they blast board statement

Celtic fans have reacted with anger at the club's update on their review of Neil Lennon's position.

The club had promised a January review late last year and it has taken until now for them to release details of what they decided, with the situation still being monitored.

And many fans feel they have said a lot without saying anything with supporters highly critical of Ian Bankier's statement and accused them of some hypocrisy.

The board had said they wouldn't make 'hasty' decisions but many feel that's what they did when they hired Lennon following a Scottish Cup win over Hearts in 2019.

And they took to social media to criticise the Celtic Park board, with the club sitting 18 points behind rivals Rangers at the top of the table.

@_zsipod said: “The review of the manager’s position does not address the manager’s position. Astonishing.”

@Tim_Poster said: “Completely out of touch with the Celtic support and what the club is based on.”

@SeanBlacklaw added: “Congratulations, it only took you until 9am on Monday to ruin my week.”

@TommyTommyBurns said: “You will regret keeping Neil Lennon.”

@AxelFoley81 tweeted: “If cover is the main reason for our demise this year as you have repeated so many times, it begs the question why the club allowed the first team squad to go to Dubai? Absolute nonsense.”

@SeanDoc1967 added: “Shorty story: Not our fault, not Lenny’s fault. Blame the pandemic. Because we are the only club in the world effected by it, right?”

@Nomadicscotsman joked: “Can we go back to the Happy Birthday messages?”

@CelticGossip said: “Congratulations. In the space of 688 words you have managed to say nothing. An art in itself.”

@Mackin83 said: “Won’t make hasty decisions yet will appoint a manager in a shower.”

@Kieran_Celtic added: "How lucky are we to be told that Neil Lennon “has addressed each and every game we have played.” What does that even mean?"
