Celtic boss Neil Lennon singles out full-back for praise after KR Reykjavik thrashing

Neil Lennon singled Celtic defender Hatem Abd Elhamed out for praise following his superb showing in the KR Reykjavik thrashing.

The Parkhead side stuck six past the Icelandic champions without reply on a comfortable evening in Glasgow.

Moi Elyounoussi grabbed a double to add to strikes from Odsonne Edouard, Greg Taylor, Christopher Jullien and an Arnor Adalsteinsson own goal.

Elhamed was involved in two of the goals, and Lennon was delighted with the way he performed throughout the match.

He told Celtic TV: "Very pleased. It was a great ball by Hatem [for Greg Taylor's goal]. I thought he was very good tonight. He was strong and it's nice to see him get 90-minutes under his belt.

"He's been knocking on the door and obviously with him and Jerermie we've got a really good two to pick from.

"I was pleased with Bitton, I thought he came through the game really well. And then Olivier comes on and shows that but of class that he has.

"We needed that with the 10 day break and the stop-start beginning to the season, so hopefully that'll do the world of good for the psychology of the group."

Lennon added: "These games are sometimes difficult to negotiate but I think the players will definitely benefit from the work that's been done tonight and now we look forward to a big couple of weeks."
