MUMBAI: Mumbai cyber police have initiated a probe into complaints that photos of 100 prominent Muslim women, including journalists, were uploaded for auction on an app, Bulli Bai, on Saturday.

NEW DELHI/MUMBAI: Delhi police have filed an FIR based on a woman journalist’s complaint that unidentified people have uploaded her photograph and details for auction on an app, Bulli Bai, using the hosting platform GitHub.

The government has asked for a probe into complaints against a webpage, where unidentified individuals uploaded doctored images with comments targeting Muslim women, the Indian Express reported. The webpage﹘called bullibai.github.io﹘was hosted by internet hosting platform GitHub and held fake “auctions” using pictures of women.

The action by Delhi Police was taken based on a complaint by a woman journalist at the Cyber police station where she alleged that her photo was uploaded on a website to target her. Full Story
