Dec. 20--The summary
Carmelo Anthony scored 27 and Arron Affialo added 18 to lead New York Knicks to a 107-91 victory over the weary Chicago Bulls on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.
The Bulls, who were coming off a loss to the Pistons in four overtimes the night before at the United Center, were led by Joakim Noah's season-high 21 points. Noah added 10 rebounds and Bobby Portis had a career-high 20 points.
Roster report
Pau Gasol did not play for the Bulls while he rested in Chicago and Doug McDermott left in the second quarter with a sore right knee and did not return. Afterward, coach Fred Hoiberg said McDemott's knee swelled and that the team would evaluate the forward's status Sunday.
Tribune player of game
Anthony. In addition to a game-high 27 points, the veteran had seven rebounds and three assists.
The quote
"We got back to having a very stagnant game. We got out 12-2, we had great pace, the ball was moving and then after that we got back to standing and stagnant and not running. We got frustrated out there. We missed some good open looks. I felt especially when the second group got in there and I thought it affected us at the other end. They were driving gaps on us. It's a tough prep playing against this team but with the stuff we did in the walkthrough I didn't feel we carried a lot of that over into the game."
