Biden taps Obama's former communications director Jen Psaki for press secretary

Jen Psaki, who previously served as Obama's communications director, will serve as President-elect Joe Biden's press secretary, the transition team announced Sunday.

The big picture: All of the top aides in Biden's communication staff will be women, per the Washington Post, which first reported Psaki's appointment.


Other appointments announced by the transition team:

  • Kate Bedingfield as White House communications director.
  • Senior campaign adviser Symone Sanders as chief spokesperson to Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
  • Ashley Etienne, former spokesperson for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as communications director for Harris.
