Biden on delivering joint address in front of two women: "It’s about time"

President Biden opened his first joint address to Congress lauding the momentous nature of Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's presence behind him.

Why it matters: This is the first time the No. 1 and No. 2 people in the line of presidential succession are both women, Axios' Kadia Goba writes. “Madam Speaker, Madam Vice President,” Biden said as he addressed the joint session. “No president has ever said those words from this podium, no president has ever said those words. And it’s about time!”
