Belfast boxer Sean McComb welcomes newborn son to the world

Belfast boxer Sean McComb says he is "loving life" after becoming a father.

The 28-year-old welcomed newborn son Cairbre McComb to the world on Wednesday (January 13), weighing in at 7lb 7oz.

McComb couldn't wait to share his joy, posting photographs on Instagram of the bouncing baby boy and mummy Dearbhlá Ní Mhadáin.

Beside the proud photos, McComb said: "Absolutely no filter needed here for these two superstars!

"Everyone meet Cairbre McComb, weighing 7lb 7oz! 13/1/21. Couldn't be more proud of @dervsm delivering this we bull on her own!"

He signed the post off with his trademark quip: "Bang Bang Gravy Chip!"

Speaking to Belfast Live, McComb said he was 'loving' being a new father.

"I absolutely love it, even he sleepless nights," he joked.

"He is brilliant and I am so proud of Dearbhlá."

McComb was due to fight Gavin Gwynne for the vacant Commonwealth lightweight title this month before all boxing shows in the UK were suspended due to rising Covid-19 figures.

The British Boxing Board of Control said events under their jurisdiction would not happen during January.
