Bakery closes after staff member tests positive for Covid-19

A bakery in Co Down has closed its doors after a staff member tested positive for Coronavirus.

Lucy Annie's Bakery, in Downpatrick, issued a statement on their social media page on Thursday afternoon.

It read: "Within the last hour we have been informed that a member of staff from our bakery in Ballymote has tested positive for Covid-19.

"As a precaution we have immediately closed our shop we shall be closed until further notice when we have had the proper guidance.

"A deep clean will now be carried out. Those that have cakes booked for pickup today or tomorrow will be contacted. Sorry for any inconvenience. Keep safe everyone."

Meanwhile, a Covid-19 testing unit has today been set up in Newcastle. It comes after a number of positive cases in the Newry, Mourne and Down area.
