Ariana Grande shares emotional ‘farewell’ to 2018 after difficult year

Ariana Grande has shared an emotional post bidding goodbye to 2018 after battling through a difficult year.

The Thank U Next singer looked ready to put the year behind her as she opened up to her 141 million Instagram followers about the past 12 months, following the death of ex-boyfriend Mac Miller and her recent split from SNL star Pete Davidson.

She wrote: “Farewell 2018, you f***. I hope this New Year brings you all much laughter, clarity and healing. Be gentle with yourselves and each other.

“If we made it thru this last year, we’ll for sure make it thru this one. Thank you for everything.” [sic]

Fans flooded the star with support, with many thanking the 25-year-old for getting them through the year.

One user wrote: “baby your music, inspires many people, thanks to you is that many of us go ahead, really thank you for everything we love you.”

Another commented: “I love you.”

A third added: “2018 was a crazy year let's hope that 2019 will be a more positive and comfortable year. Goodbye 2018, hello 2019!!!”

Earlier this month, Grande fought back tears as she accepted the Billboard Women of the Year award.

The star poured her heart out as she reflected on the past year, admitting it has been the “best year for my career and worst year of my life.”

The post comes after reports Grande allegedly turned down an honorary damehood for her work with the victims of the bombing at her Manchester Arena concert.

She is said to have thought it was too soon after the tragedy and that it may have been viewed as insensitive.
