Greater Manchester’s hospitals have recorded the deaths of a further two patients who died after testing positive for coronavirus.
It brings the region’s hospital death toll to 5,500, according to the latest NHS England figures.
Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust both recorded another death each in the last 24 hours.
The total number of coronavirus-related deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester, as of Monday, February 22, are:

- Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9
- Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 1,081
- NHS Nightingale Hospital North West - 6
- Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 1,500
- Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 7
- Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 475 (+1)
- Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 515
- Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 545 (+1)
- The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 27
- Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 733
Nationally, a further 178 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 81,482.
Patients were aged between 25 and 101 years old. All except seven (aged 47 to 97 years old) had known underlying health conditions.
Date of death ranges from January 2 to February 21, 2021 with the majority being on or after February 18.
Their families have been informed.
