Amy Dowden missing Strictly as she confirms she'll return with Tom Fletcher next week

Amy Dowden has confirmed that she and Tom Fletcher will definitely be returning to Strictly Come Dancing next week.

The 31-year-old professional and her celebrity partner were forced to miss the show this week after both testing positive for Covid last weekend.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday afternoon, Amy shared a sweet selfie of her and the McFly singer pre-Covid.

She captioned the post: "I can’t tell you how much I am missing today’s band call, hair and make up, dress run and the nerves of a live show!

"I can’t even begin to explain but so grateful to be able to return next week for movie week with the lovely @tomfletcher #mcflowden."

Amy then added: "Sending all my love and luck in the World to all the fabulous couples today.

"I’m going to be on the edge of my sofa shouting and supporting you all (you will probs hear me at Elstree)! Tune in tonight 18.45 for another great show."

The pair's fellow Strictly pals were quick to comment, with Judi Love writing: " We can’t wait to see you guys back on the dance floor xxx."

Tom was also looking rather glum as he took to Instagram on Saturday afternoon (tomfletcher/Instagram)

Tilly Ramsay added: " See you soon!! Missing you both," and Adam Peaty wrote: " Can’t wait to have you both back soon!"

BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker also commented: "See you soon guys. We all miss you but @nadiyabychkova and I have been upgraded to your lovely dressing room so - even though you’re not here - you are spreading a bit of en-suite joy."

Amy's post comes after it was reported that she and Tom could end up missing two weeks of Strictly due to the virus.

There are said to be concerns the McFly frontman could end up missing a second week should he find he is still unwell after his isolation period ends.

And even if he and Amy are back to feeling healthy, they would have just three days to perfect a dance routine ahead of the subsequent weekend of shows.

A source told The Sun: “Amy and Tom need to be isolated until Tuesday at least and then they will have to undergo another test and make sure they are fit and well enough to train.

"Just being passed Covid-free doesn't mean they will be out of the woods."

The source claims the duo are concerned that they will only have three days to get their next dance memorised once they are cleared from quarantine.

They said: “It means they aren’t likely to get back into full rehearsals until Wednesday which means they face a race against time to learn their routine.

“Amy is sharing ideas, steps and moves via video for Tom. They are both determined that as soon as they are able to start training again that they will be able to hit the ground running.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6:45pm on BBC One.
