NEW YORK -- Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and U.S. President Donald Trump agreed in their talks on Wednesday in New York to start new trade talks to review tariffs for a wide range of goods such as agricultural products.
The two leaders also reached an agreement that the United States will refrain during the new trade talks from imposing further tariffs on Japanese vehicles, Tokyo's main concern.
In the new talks, the two governments aim to conclude a new trade agreement named the Trade Agreement on Goods (TAG). The U.S. government plans to notify the U.S. Congress on Thursday of its decision to enter new trade talks with Japan.
