SACRAMENTO, Calif. _ Aaron Gordon converted a three-point play with 1.1 seconds left to lift the Orlando Magic to a 114-112 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Monday night at Golden 1 Center.
Evan Fournier, who had six points in the final 2:20, looked to take the last shot and potential game-winner but instead fired a pass to Gordon in the lane just before landing after going airborne.
Gordon put up the 6-foot shot quickly and was fouled by Cory Joseph. Gordon sank the free throw to put the Magic up by two.
The Kings tried a lob to the basket on the final play, but the Magic knocked the ball away.
Sacramento had taken a 112-111 lead on a three-point play by De'Aaron Fox just 14.7 seconds earlier.
Nikola Vucevic finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds to lead Orlando (19-21), which twice led by seven in the last 4:23. Fournier added 25 points while Gordon finished with 19 and Markelle Fultz had 16 points for the Magic.
Nemanja Bjelica scored a career-high 34 points to lead the Kings (15-25) while Fox finished with 31.
Behind a combined 19 points from Vucevic and Fournier, the Magic posted a season-high 33 first-quarter points to build an eight-point lead.
Orlando had to withstand some early hot shooting by Sacramento. The Kings hit six of their first seven shots, then were 5 of 15 the rest of the first quarter.
The Magic's advantage reached 17 after two Fournier free throws with 1:02 left in the half before they settled for a 13-point lead _ 65-52 _ by intermission.
The lead might have been greater had Bjelica not been on the floor. He torched the Magic for 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting, going 4 of 5 from the 3-point line.
The Kings got back in it with an 11-2 run to start the third quarter, but they couldn't overtake the Magic until Fox's three-point play in the waning moments.
The Magic continue their six-game road trip Wednesday when they face the Lakers in Los Angeles.
