A coffee cup that appeared to be left in a ‘Game of Thrones’ scene is this week’s MVP

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT! GAME OF THRONES SPOILERS AHEAD!

I’m going to level with you here: I wasn’t the biggest fan of this week’s Game of Thrones episode. After last week’s harrowing but ultimately disappointing Battle of Winterfell, it was tough to go back to the stakes being lower — a battle over the Iron Throne feels so much less important after our heroes kept humanity alive by defeating the Night King and his massive army of the dead.

And while Cersei is the real MVP of this ep because she holds all the cards, her boyfriend Euron killed a dragon and she put Daenerys in an impossible position while also killing the Targaryen’s best friend and translator Missandei, we’re giving our weekly award to … a coffee cup.

Seriously. Eagle-eyed (Three-eyed raven-eyed?) GoT fans got “Starbucks Cup” trending on Twitter Monday morning because they noticed what appeared to be a disposable coffee cup on the set during the post-battle celebration scene. And there were so many jokes and memes, many of which poked fun at last week’s cinematographic choice to make the ep extremely dark:

Yes, mistakes happen in movies and television all the time — famously, there may have been a wristwatch in Ben-Hur — but they make for some great jokes.
