5 things noticed as Arsenal signing Gabriel Martinelli trains with new team-mates

The Arsenal squad are in California for their pre-season tour and hit the training ground in the sun on Friday.

Unai Emery oversaw the session as Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and co. were put through their paces.

While abroad, Arsenal will take on Colorado Rapids, Bayern Munich and Fiorentina before going head to head with Real Madrid in Washington DC.

The Gunners will then face Ligue 1 clubs Lyon and Angers before the one the fans have all been waiting for; a friendly with Barcelona.

After the match against the Nou Camp giants, Arsenal will head back to England for their Premier League opener with Newcastle on August 11.

Here's five things we noticed from the Gunners' California training session.

1. The new boy is settling in

New Arsenal signing Gabriel Martinelli accompanied his team-mates on the tour of the US and looked delighted to be a Gunner.

2. A big season awaits?

Laurent Koscielny has thrown a spanner in the works by refusing to go on Arsenal's pre-season tour. Shkodran Mustafi is not a fan favourite, but the Gunners may need the German more than they realise now.

3. Is he here to stay?

Mesut Ozil doesn't appear to be Unai Emery's all-time favourite player, and Fenerbahce are keen on signing him. For now though he appears set to stay.

4. Listen to the boss

The gaffer wore his shades in the sun on Friday as he delivered his message to his players. Very LA, Unai.

5. Cooling off in the sun

Lacazette was among the Gunners stars feeling the heat, and made the most of a photo op while taking a drink.
