Who is in the House Of The Dragon cast? Here's who will star in the Game of Thrones prequel

Game of Thrones fans everywhere are anxiously awaiting the release of House Of The Dragon on August 22 on Sky Atlantic and NOW. The prequel will tell the fictional story of the Targaryen civil war, set 172 years before the Mother of Dragons, Daenerys Targaryen, was born.

So with Emilia Clark’s character Daenerys Targaryen not expected to feature, who will make up the cast of HBO’s House of the Dragon? An entirely new set of characters will join the franchise played by some big British names.

These include Matt Smith, known for his role as Doctor Who, and Rhys Ifans, who starred in Notting Hill and Harry Potter’s Deathly Hallows Part One. If you’re a fan of The Hobbit trilogy you’ll also recognise a familiar face, Graham McTavish, who played dwarf Dwalin.
