What’s on TV this week: Loretta Lynn remembered, 'White Lotus' returns, 'Inside Man' debuts and more

Sunday

“Coal Miner’s Daughter: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Loretta Lynn” (CMT, 7 p.m. ET): The dearly departed country music legend is remembered in a star-studded concert live from Nashville’s Grand Old Opry.

“The Simpsons” (Fox, 8 p.m.): The animated sitcom brings the Halloween scares with an all-new “Treehouse of Horror.”

“Ghosts of Christmas Always” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.): A hunky modern day Scrooge gets the Dickens scared out of him in this new rom-com.

“The White Lotus” (HBO, 9 p.m.): Your rooms are almost ready, just gonna be a few more minutes, as this satirical series returns for a second season set in Sicily. With Jennifer Coolidge.

Monday

“Inside Man” (Netflix): A death row inmate (Stanley Tucci) lends his sinister expertise to help solve a missing persons case across the pond in this six-part thriller. With David Tennant.

2022 World Series (Fox, 8 p.m.; also Tuesday; and Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, if necessary): The Philadelphia Phillies battle the Houston Astros as baseball’s fall classic continues.

Tuesday

“God Forbid: The Sex Scandal that Brought Down a Dynasty” (Hulu): This new documentary retells the tale of disgraced evangelical leader Jerry Falwell Jr., his wife and a hotel pool attendant.

“Finding Your Roots With Henry Louis Gates, Jr.” (PBS, 9 p.m.): Broadway’s Raúl Esparza and restaurateur David Chang explore their family histories in this new episode.

“Below Deck Adventure” (Bravo, 9 p.m.): If you have to ask, you can’t a-fjord it in this spinoff set aboard a luxury yacht cruising around Scandinavia.

“Frontline” (PBS, 10 p.m.): The new episode “Putin’s War at Home” examines the resistance the Russian leader is facing in his own country over his actions in Ukraine.

“Jordan Klepper Fingers the Midterms — America Unfollows Democracy” (Comedy Central, 11:30 p.m.): The sometime “Daily Show” correspondent surveys our divided political landscape in this pre-election special.

Wednesday

“Nature” (PBS, 8 p.m.): A bird in the hand is worth two in the tree in the new episode “Woodpeckers: The Hole Story.”

“Nova” (PBS, 9 p.m.): We’re not saying it was aliens, but ... Who created those ancient geoglyphs in Peru? Find out in the new episode “Nazca Desert Mystery.”

“Secrets of the Dead” (PBS, 10 p.m.): It’s hard to tell the Eye of Ra from the Eye of Horus in the new episode “Decoding Hieroglyphics.”

Thursday

“Blockbuster” (Netflix): Streaming killed the video store — almost — in this new workplace comedy. With Randall Park and Melissa Fumero.

“Killer Sally” (Netflix): This new true crime series revisits the 1995 murder of a professional bodybuilder Ray McNeil by his bodybuilder wife Sally McNeil.

“Low Country: The Murdaugh Dynasty” (HBO Max): This three-part docuseries investigates a series of scandals involving a once prominent South Carolina family.

“The Suspect” (AMC+, Sundance Now): “Poldark’s” Aidan Turner plays a psychologist and family man caught up in a conspiracy in this five-part thriller.

“Titans” (HBO Max): This YA-themed live action series set in the DC universe is back for Season 4.

“A Wesley Christmas” (BET+): There’s no place like home for the holidays in this new TV movie. With Jasmine Guy.

“The Really Loud House” (Nickelodeon, 7 p.m.): No one uses their inside voice in this new live-action sitcom based on the animated series.

“Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue” (HGTV, 9 p.m.): Nicole Curtis takes on the mother of all renovation projects in her latest series.

“Hip Hop Homicides” (WE, 9 p.m.): The murders of XXXtentacion, Pop Smoke and other rappers cut down in their prime are examined in this new docuseries.

“Mountain Men: Ultimate Marksman” (History, 9:30 p.m.): Competitors must demonstrate their prowess with frontier-era weaponry in this new spinoff.

“Kold X Windy” (WE, 10 p.m.): Two young black women from Chicago’s South Side try to make their names in the rap game in this new drama.

Friday

“Both Sides of the Blade” (AMC+): Juliette Binoche is torn between two lovers, feelin' like a fool in this 2022 romantic drama directed by Claire Denis.

“Buying Beverly Hills” (Netflix): If you have to ask, you definitely can’t afford it in this new real estate series.

“Causeway” (Apple TV+): Jennifer Lawrence plays an American soldier readjusting to civilian life after suffering a traumatic brain injury in Afghanistan in this 2022 drama.

“Enola Holmes 2” (Netflix): The game is afoot — again! “Stranger Things’” Millie Bobby Brown reprises her role as Sherlock’s kid sister in this 2022 sequel to the 2020 mystery tale. With Henry Cavill.

“Manifest” (Netflix): This drama about the mysterious reappearance of a missing passenger jet returns from cancellation for a fourth and final season.

“The Mosquito Coast” (Apple TV+): This drama based on the Paul Theroux novel and starring his nephew, Justin Theroux, is back for Season 2.

“My Policeman” (Prime Video): Pop star Harry Styles plays a British copper with a complicated romantic life in this LGBTQ-themed 2022 drama. “The Crown’s” Emma Corrin also stars.

“Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me” (Apple TV+): The actor, pop singer and former child star shares her mental health journey in this new documentary.

“Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” (Roku): “Harry Potter’s” Daniel Radcliffe portrays the accordion-wielding musical parodist in this satirical 2022 biopic. With Evan Rachel Wood.

“Lopez vs. Lopez” (NBC, 8 p.m.): Veteran comic George Lopez gets his daughter Mayan Lopez into the act in this new family sitcom.

“A Magical Christmas Village” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.): “That Girl’s” Marlo Thomas and “Days of Our Lives’” Alison Sweeney play mother and daughter in this new holiday tale.

“Young Rock” (NBC, 8:30 p.m.): This sitcom about the youthful misadventures of pro wrestler turned action star Dwayne Johnson returns with new episodes.

“Great Performances” (PBS, 9 p.m.): The New York Philharmonic moves back into its recently refurbished digs with a celebratory concert that includes Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.”

Saturday

"Musical Matinee" (TCM, 9 a.m.): This new weekly series spotlighting classic Hollywood musicals kicks off with 1951’s “An American in Paris” starring Gene Kelly.

“Lights, Camera, Christmas!” (Hallmark, 8 p.m.): A local shop owner meets a hunky actor who’s in town to shoot a new rom-com in this new TV movie.

“Merry Swissmas” (Lifetime, 8 p.m.): An American architect (Jodie Sweetin) meets a hunky single dad in Switzerland in this new TV movie.
