West Lothian butcher's shortlisted for three prestigious awards

A popular West Lothian butcher's are celebrating after being named as finalists in three categories for the Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards 2023.

Hugh Black and Sons, which has locations throughout central Scotland and was founded in Armadale, are hoping to seal a hat-trick of success at the awards, which will be held on September 7.

Their Ribeye Fillet Steak and Scotch Lamb Valentine Steak have both reached the final of the Scotch Brand Product of the Year with their Traditional Haggis being named on the shortlist in the Meat Product of the Year category.

On top of that, the company is also a finalist in the Best for Scottish - Multiple Retailer category.

Hugh Black from Hugh Black and Sons Ltd said: “We are delighted to have been named as finalists at the Scottish Food and Drink Excellence Awards 2023.

“These awards celebrate the best that the Scottish food and drink sector has to offer so to find ourselves amongst some of the biggest and most well-known brands in Scotland is huge honour for us.

“We are a relatively small, family run business so for all of the products we entered to reach the finals, and to be finalists in a business category with the likes of Asda and Aldi is quite surreal.

“We are excited to attend the finals later this year in Edinburgh.”
