Vanessa Hudgens' kitchen utilizes the cooling effects of this eternally-on-trend countertop finish

Vanessa Hudgens.

We're still not over Vanessa Hudgens' beautiful baby bump debut at the 96th annual Academy Awards, which has led us back to an obvious place: her Instagram page.

Amidst newly posted red carpet photos, we found an interior shot that, in classic Vanessa Hudgens fashion, is both chic and timeless. The actor's kitchen is a modern oasis filled with dark cabinets and black and white marble countertops – a look that's consistently popular with celebrities and designers alike. But makes this aesthetic so sought-after?

Decorating with marble is a popular choice in the kitchen due to its luxurious appearance, and experts say that variations in the material can bring it to the next level.

'Well-designed white marble-style quartz worktops will always be timeless and will likely remain the default choice for certain kitchen styles,' says Caesarstone’s head of design, Mor Krisher. However, consumers are now looking at alternative styles that have the subtlety and elegance they desire and a look that’s different from the very basic whites that have flooded the market.'

A caveat of marble is that it's definitely a high-maintenance material to invest in. Another option is getting a marble-patterned porcelain to fit the bill.

'If you do decide to bring this trend into your own kitchen, consider choosing extra-large format tiles,' explains Grazzie Wilson, Head of Creative at Ca' Pietra. 'Doing so means less grout lines so it provides a more seamless and sleek finish.'

Continuity is crucial to ensuring the marble design looks neat and tidy, Wilson explains. Too many patterns and materials can make a marble kitchen look busy; think outside the box when it comes to where marble is incorporated.

'Use the tiles continuously from your worktop to splashback to create a faultless appearance,' she suggests. 'They also can be used on kitchen islands to give the illusion of a solid stone sculpture.'
