USMNT’s Christian Pulisic Completes $22 Million Move to AC Milan

Christian Pulisic has officially traded one legendary European club for another with a move from Chelsea to AC Milan.

The U.S. men’s national team star has signed a four-year deal with an option for a fifth year with the Rossoneri worth roughly $22 million. He will wear the No. 11 shirt at AC Milan.

In four seasons with Chelsea, Pulisic became the first American to record 26 goals and 21 assists in 145 matches across all competitions. The 24-year-old also won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2021 and the Champions League in ’20–21, when he became the first American to feature in a Champions League final. However, Pulisic never managed to secure consistent playing time at Stamford Bridge, making a career-low eight Premier League starts last season.

Pulisic joins an AC Milan side, owned by American investment firm RedBird, that is just two years removed from winning a Serie A title. The club qualified for Champions League for the upcoming season after finishing fourth in the league, thanks in part due to a 10-point deduction to Juventus.

“I’m very happy to be here. I’m excited. I’m excited to start with this historic club,” Pulisic told AP at Milan’s Malpensa airport. “It’s legendary and I’m really excited to come here and try to win some titles here.”

The three-time U.S. Soccer Male Athlete of the Year is just the latest USMNT star to make a major summer transfer. Earlier this month, winger Tim Weah moved from Lille to Juventus while Brenden Aaronson left Leeds to join Union Berlin on loan.
