USF Police Disperse Protest, 10 Arrested Including Gun Possession

USF police intervened in a non-peaceful protest on campus.

On Tuesday, University of South Florida (USF) police, along with supporting law enforcement agencies, intervened in an on-campus protest resulting in the arrest of ten individuals, as reported by the university.

The protest began with approximately 75 to 100 participants gathering on USF's campus. However, the situation escalated as the day progressed. USF police determined that the protest had turned non-peaceful when they discovered that some protesters intended to use items brought onto campus as weapons and to resist university staff and law enforcement officers.

Despite multiple warnings to end the protest and disperse, the protesters refused to comply. Subsequently, ten individuals were taken into custody by the authorities.

During the arrests, it was revealed that one of the detained individuals was carrying a concealed firearm, a serious violation of campus safety protocols.

The incident highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in maintaining order during public demonstrations and the importance of adhering to peaceful protest guidelines on university grounds.
