Urgent search launched for schoolboy, 14, who vanished from Scots village on bike

Police have launched an appeal to try and trace a missing schoolboy, who disappeared from his village on a bike.

Officers say Alexander Stewart, 14, was last seen in Balerno, Midlothian, at around 2pm on Wednesday, December 21.

Concerns are growing for the teen's welfare, and cops have urged Alexander to get in touch.

He is described as around 5ft9in tall’, of slim build with short dark hair. He was last seen riding a black bicycle with red writing.

When he vanished, he was wearing a dark checked shirt and dark skinny jeans, and he was carrying a black rucksack with orange piping and a blue/green water bottle.

Constable Mark Frame of Wester Hailes Police Station said : “We are growing increasingly concerned for Alexander and we would appeal to anyone who knows where he is to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting 1679 of December 21, 2022."
