Urgent search for relatives of Scottish man who died on Stratford underground track

An appeal has been launched to find the family of a pensioner who died on a London Tube track.

British Transport Police officers were scrambled to Stratford underground station on Boxing Day just before 3.30pm.

The alarm was raised after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A man, identified as 72-year-old Brian Mitchell who was born in Edinburgh, was pronounced dead.

Despite extensive enquiries, British Transport Police have been unable to trace Mr Mitchell's next of kin or any other family members to inform them of this sad news.

They are appealing for any relatives or anyone who may have information about Mr Mitchell's family to come forward and assist their investigation.

Mr Mitchell was believed to have been living in the Hanwell area of Ealing in west London.
