Aid convoy enters Egyptian side of Rafah

An aid convoy operated by UNICEF was targeted in a dangerous attack while waiting to enter northern Gaza, highlighting the perilous conditions faced by aid agencies in the region. The incident occurred as the convoy was stationed in a holding area before the checkpoint into northern Gaza when gunfire erupted in the vicinity.

According to a UNICEF spokesperson, shots were fired from the direction of the crossing towards civilians, prompting them to flee in the opposite direction. The vehicle carrying the aid workers was struck by three bullets during the attack.

The joint mission between UNICEF and UNRWA aimed to deliver essential supplies including fuel, nutrition, and medical aid to the residents of northern Gaza. The spokesperson expressed shock at the coordinated attack on a designated holding area, emphasizing the potential harm to their colleagues and the people they serve.

UNICEF worker described the incident as another grim reminder of the dangers faced by humanitarian workers and the vulnerable population in Gaza. The IDF has been contacted for a response regarding the attack but has not yet provided any comments.
