Umpire Ejects Injured Anthony Rizzo for Chirping From Dugout: ‘Get the Hell Out of Here’

Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo hasn’t played in more than a month and will miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome, but that didn’t stop umpire Alan Porter from ejecting him from Thursday night’s game against the Tigers

Rizzo was in the dugout with the rest of his teammates and took issue with Porter’s strike zone during rookie Jasson Domínguez’s third-inning plate appearance. Domínguez was called out on strikes after taking a pitch that appeared to be well below the bottom of the zone. Strike two was another questionable call by Porter, and Rizzo started chirping from the dugout as the next inning got underway.

Porter promptly tossed him from the game.

The in-stadium microphones picked up Porter’s side of the exchange with Rizzo clear as day.

“Is that you talking?” Porter asked Rizzo. “Get the hell out of here. You’re not gonna yell—no. Get out of here. No, you’re done. You’re done. Goodbye. You’re not even playing. Get out of here. You obviously wanted me to hear it, so let‘s go.”

Rizzo’s reply was not picked up on audio, but it doesn’t take an expert lip reader to know what he said: “F---in’ bulls---.”
