UFC Fight Night 236 post-event facts: Rodolfo Vieira claims record with another arm-triangle choke

The UFC’s lengthy stretch of events rolled on Saturday with UFC Fight Night 236 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Jack Hermansson (24-8 MMA, 11-6 UFC) emerged victorious in the main event when he scored an upset of Joe Pyfer (12-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC) by unanimous decision in their middleweight bout.

Event stats

The UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance payout for the event totaled $236,500.

Debuting fighters went 2-3 at the event.

Dan Ige, Rodolfo Vieira, Carlos Prates and Bogdan Guskov earned $50,000 UFC Fight Night 236 fight-night bonuses.

The UFC sold VIP tickets to fans for UFC Fight Night 236, but the promotion did not make public the total number of tickets sold or the gate.

Betting favorites went 7-6 on the card. One fight ended in a no contest.

Betting favorites fell to 3-1 in UFC headliners this year.

Total fight time for the 14-bout card was 2:41:47.

Pyfer suffered the first decision loss of his career.

Andre Fili (23-11 MMA, 11-10 UFC) has suffered six of his 11 career losses by stoppage.

Robert Bryczek (17-6 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has suffered four of his six career losses by decision.

Gregory Rodrigues (15-5 MMA, 6-2 UFC) has earned 13 of his 15 career victories by stoppage.

Rodrigues’ five knockouts victories since 2020 in UFC middleweight competition are most in the division.

Brad Tavares (20-9 MMA, 15-9 UFC) has suffered all four of his career stoppage losses by knockout.

Michael Johnson (22-19 MMA, 14-15 UFC) improved to 3-5 since he returned to the lightweight division in October 2019.

Johnson has earned nine of his 14 UFC victories by decision.

Darrius Flowers (12-7-1 MMA, 0-2 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of his career.

Vieira’s five submission victories in UFC middleweight competition are tied for third-most in divisional history behind Gerald Meerschaert (nine) and Brendan Allen (six).

Vieira’s four submission victories by arm-triangle choke in UFC competition are most in company history.

Armen Petrosyan (9-3 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has suffered two of his three career losses by stoppage.

Petrosyan suffered the first submission loss of his career.

Trevin Giles (16-6 MMA, 7-6 UFC) fell to 2-3 since he dropped to the welterweight division in January 2022.

Giles has suffered all six of his career losses by stoppage.

Pauga has suffered both of his career stoppage losses by knockout.

Hyder Amil def. Fernie Garcia

Hyder Amil (9-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has earned eight of his nine career victories by stoppage.

Fernie Garcia’s (10-5 MMA, 0-4 UFC) four-fight losing skid is the longest of his career. He hasn’t earned a victory since October 2021.

Garcia suffered the first stoppage loss of his career with a TKO defeat.
