TOWIE's Elliott Wright 'heartbroken' after doorman dies 'breaking up fight' at his Spanish restaurant

Ex TOWIE star Elliott Wright is said to be "heartbroken” following the death of a doorman who was killed trying to break up a fight at his restaurant in the Costa del Sol.

Elliott, who owns Olivia's La Cala near Marbella, has closed down the establishment for two days as a mark of respect following the death of his member of staff, writes The Mirror.

The restaurateur has shut the popular tourist spot as the police continue to investigate the tragic incident which happened on Saturday night.

Emergency services raced to the restaurant following reports that the 55-year-old victim had hit the back of his head and was unconscious after stepping in to stop a fight following a heated argument involving several customers.

The doorman was in a serious condition and was rushed to Malaga Regional University Hospital where he was admitted to intensive care for severe head trauma.

Unfortunately, he sadly died on Sunday.

When he wasn't working on the door at Olivia’s La Cala, it's said that the security guard was a personal trainer and bodybuilder.

A police investigation into the incident, led by the Civil Guard in Malaga, is still currently ongoing but no arrests have been made.

CCTV footage has been collected from the premises and police will be looking into the incident, which resulted in the death of the Venezuelan doorman. A post-mortem will also take place.

Unconfirmed local reports have pointed to him receiving a punch as he tried to intervene in the fight which led to him hitting his head as he fell and lost his balance.

Well-placed sources claim that his injury on the back of his head was caused directly by the floor, but said he went down as he tried to eject one of the unruly customers.

One said: “The local reports talk of a group of people fighting but it was between two people.

“The doorman went down as he tried to eject one of the two men.”

Olivia’s released a statement yesterday, saying: “This weekend we lost a much loved and valued member of our team.

“Our hearts are broken and we have closed the restaurant today and tomorrow out of respect.

“We are supporting our staff and the family whilst awaiting news of further investigations.”
