During the first hour of The Roast of Tom Brady, there were numerous jokes made about his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen. However, comedian Nikki Glaser was the first to reference Brady's ex, Bridget Moynahan. Glaser humorously remarked on Brady's retirement and return to the game, joking about his difficulty in walking away from something that wasn't his pregnant girlfriend. She quipped that Brady didn't realize Moynahan was pregnant, he just thought she was gaining weight.

Brady and Moynahan dated for over two years before splitting in 2006. Shortly after their breakup, Brady began a relationship with Bündchen, while Moynahan discovered she was pregnant. Their son, John (known as Jack), was born in August 2007.

During the roast, actor Will Ferrell, in character as Ron Burgundy, made another joke about Moynahan, referencing child support payments. Despite not being present at the event, Moynahan maintains a positive coparenting relationship with Brady, raising their son together.

In a 2008 interview with Harper's Bazaar, Moynahan opened up about her unexpected journey to single motherhood. She expressed her initial struggles with the situation, emphasizing her traditional beliefs in marriage and family. Despite her challenges, Moynahan remained respectful towards Brady, ensuring that their personal matters remained private for the sake of their son.

Brady later married Bündchen and expanded their family with two more children. After 13 years of marriage, the couple announced their separation in 2022.
