The One Show chaos as Hollywood megastar forced to pull out of interview suddenly

The One Show bosses were forced to lose a huge Hollywood star from appearing on the BBC One show on Monday.

None other than Morgan Freeman, 86, was due to sit on the famous BBC couch with hosts Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas, after his appearance was advertised in an exciting teaser clip on Monday.

The Shawshank Redemption actor had been scheduled to join David Tennant and Michael Sheen on the panel of guests, along with Zoe Saldana and fellow Hollywood icon Nicole Kidman, however, Morgan was nowhere to be seen when viewers tuned in to the evening show.

However, after his appearance was heavily promoted ahead of Monday's show, hosts Alex and Jermaine were forced to break the news that the Hollywood legend would in fact not be joining them on the BBC One show - much to the disappointment of excited viewers.

"Honestly, we've seen a bit of it, it is brilliant. Morgan Freeman, also in it. He was gonna come tonight so we're gutted he couldn't make it last minute," Alex said when the show kicked off.

Morgan and fellow Hollywood star Nicole were promoting their new spy thriller called Special Ops: Lioness.

While speaking to hosts Alex and Jermaine, Nicole gave a brief overview as to what the thriller entailed as she explained: "In this programme, they are women in the military. Who is working for the CIA, who are undercover and you follow their life story in terms of their family, their work, their career, the stresses of that.

"I don't play a lioness, I play the woman that runs the lioness programme and I produced the show."

Following Alex and Jermaine's confession about Morgan Freeman's absence from the show, viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

"Awh sad that Morgan Freeman wasn't on The One Show. Was really looking forward to that," one tweeted.

"Can't believe Nicole Kidman is on The One Show!!!! And that Morgan Freeman was gonna be on it too," another added.

While someone else quipped: "It always baffles me how they manage to get such huge stars on The One Show. Dolly Parton last week and now Nicole Kidman??? No Morgan Freeman though."

The One Show airs weekdays at 7PM on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
