The Glasgow restaurants loved by stars including Billy Connolly and James McAvoy

Glasgow's culinary scene is one of the best in the UK and is home to some pretty spectacular restaurants, cafés and bistros.

So much so, that even celebrities and sports stars are happy to check them out whenever they are in the city.

From local legends like Billy Connolly and Paolo Nutini to international stars like singer Billie Eilish and actual Batman Michael Keaton; many of these big stars have popped into venues across Glasgow to enjoy our top-notch eateries.

With that in mind, we've taken a look at the Glasgow restaurants that celebrities have visited and the haunts that stars keep coming back to.

La Lanterna, West End

The much-loved eatery is a hit with fans of Italian food across the city and it seems it's a local hot spot for celebrities too with TV and radio host, Ross King, and Scots pop star Lewis Capaldi both recently enjoying meals here.

Ox & Finch, West End

Let's face it, praise doesn't come much higher than from an international celebrity chef and when Gordon Ramsay popped into the city for a wee home visit, he checked out this acclaimed restaurant before thanking the team for a "great dinner".

Mono, Kings Court

Global superstar Billie Eilish enjoyed a trip to Glasgow's OG vegan restaurant in June when she visited Glasgow ahead of her concert at the OVO Hydro, and took time out to take photos with fans.

She was spotted at the popular plant-based eatery in the Merchant City area of the city, alongside co-writer, producer and brother, Finneas.

Caprese Don Costanzo, Woodside Crescent

Celtic stars such as Jota and manager Ange Postecoglou and Rangers legends like Graeme Souness have been spotted in this popular Glasgow Italian eatery.

While former Ibrox manager Steven Gerrard was pictured meeting the team at the restaurant back in 2019.

Hollywood actor Brendan Fraser also delighted staff by popping in when he was filming Batgirl in the city in January.

Mediterraneo Ristorante and Champagne Bar, Merchant City

Glaswegian comedy legend Billy Connolly visited this popular Mediterranean restaurant earlier this year when he was back in the city.

The smiling star even happily posed for a photo in front of the eatery with staff delighted to get to serve the Big Yin.

The Dirty Duchess, Argyle Street

Rod Stewart couldn't resist playing the role of bartender as he decided to get behind the beer pumps and give staff a helping hand. (The Dirty Duchess/ Facebook)

Rod Stewart enjoyed his trip to this west-end boozer so much after a Celtic Rangers game earlier this year that he even hopped behind the bar to help pour the pints.

The rocker paid a surprise visit to The Dirty Duchess in May after Celtic drew 1-1 with Rangers at Parkhead.

The 77-year-old megastar was spotted pulling pints, guzzling Guinness and posing for pictures with fans at the busy Finnieston bar.

Swadish, Trongate

Legendary British actor Timothy Spall was spotted lunching in Glasgow when he popped into Merchant City restaurant Swadish and happily posed for a picture post meal.

The Harry Potter star, who is also known for his roles in The King's Speech and Secrets & Lies, enjoyed tucking into their traditional Indian and Pakistani cuisine.

Sarti's, Bath Street

Hollywood stars such as James McAvoy and Batman star Michael Keaton have both been spotted eating here, with the staff happy to reveal that both stars loved the Bath Street eatery's top Italian cuisine.

And when Westlife singer Shane Filan was on tour in Glasgow in November, the much-loved city-centre restaurant was where he took his family for a slap-up meal.

Bucks Bar, City Centre

John Hamm wanted a taste of home when he visited Glasgow while shooting Good Omens in Scotland recently.

The 50-year-old - who returns as Gabriel, the leader of the forces of Heaven - headed to city centre eatery Bucks Bar for some big old American plates of fried chicken, with staff at the popular restaurant only happy to oblige.

Eusebi Deli, West End

Queen of the Kitchen Nigella Lawson recently gave a shout-out to one of her Glasgow favourites with an Instagram post - the ever-popular Eusebi Deli in the west end.

While on tour in the city, she posted a pic of some delicious looking antipasti posting: "I’m always too nervous before going on stage to eat that much, so glorying in essential interval snackage from the lovely @eusebi_deli "

The University Café, West end

Few people know food better than the legendary Anthony Bourdain, and the culinary epxpert, who tragically passed away in 2018, visited Glasgow back in 2015 as part of his 'Parts Unknown' series.

And it was in the University Café he enjoyed the ultimate comfort food - a fish supper with haggis, all washed down with an ice-cold glass of Irn-Bru.

And he couldn't have been happier about it.
