The best dressed stars at the 2023 SAG Awards

Although the SAG Awards can sometimes be eclipsed by the Golden Globes, Baftas and Emmys — all of which happen before — last night’s red-carpet fashion was arguably the best we’ve seen this awards season.

Taking place at the Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, a bevy of A-listers congregated to watch sleeper hitEverything, Everywhere, All At Once clean up, including Euphoria star Zendaya who made her 2023 red-carpet debut. It’s no surprise that Zendaya immediately topped all best-dressed lists and set the whole internet ablaze with her custom-made Haute Couture gown especially designed for her by our Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli that featured 190 cascading pink silk rosettes down her train. Debunking the rumours that statement necklaces are out, as per TikTok, the star paired it with some outrageously gorgeous Bulgari jewels that adorned her neck with tanzanite, morganite and aquamarine.

Jenna Ortega wore a Wednesday Addams-approved Atelier Versace one-shoulder gown from the brand’s Fall/Winter 1994 collection. Crafted in black patent leather, the wet-look asymmetrical gown was complemented with Jimmy Choo’s Max platform sandals.

It wasn’t the only elevated LBD to storm the red carpet. Cara Delevigne wowed in a theatrical Carolina Herrera dress that, upon closer inspection, was actually a jumpsuit with an overskirt. SAG nominee Cate Blanchett chose a black sequined Armani Privé gown with a vampy lace bodysuit. This was sustainably refreshed from a Louis Vuitton dress that the Tár star originally wore to the 2014 Golden Globes and 2018 Cannes Film Festival.

The beloved zany camp A-lister Jennifer Coolidge, who continued her winning streak by picking up the best supporting actress award for her role in The White Lotus, wore one of her best looks to date. This was a sleek black jersey YSL dress accessorised with a Bridgette Bardot-inspired hairdo.

The red carpet was also awash with a triumph of colour dresses that perfectly blended fashion and fun. Take Amanda Seyfried’s green silk Prada minidress, or SAG nominee Niecy Nash’s romantic chartreuse Vera Wang gown with flowy panelled mesh fabric layered atop a columned skirt. The men also got the memo, with Austin Butler opting for a three-piece burgundy tuxedo by Gucci, accented with yellow-gold cufflinks and rings and a Tank Louis Cartier watch.

Honourable shout outs have to go to Eddie Redmayne, who was arguably the best-dressed male at awards. He wore a Saint Laurent Lavalliere Heritage Blouse complete with balloon sleeves and an oversized neck bow, which he wore with a pair of relaxed, high-waisted, wide leg velvet trousers. To which one Twitter fan commented: “Honestly looks so good. Never thought Eddie Redmayne would be the forefront of menswear on a red carpet but here we are.”
