The adorable dogs up for adoption in Cardiff in need of a loving home

If you're looking for a new four-legged friend to become part of your family, there are a number of dogs at Cardiff Dogs Home who are looking for loving, stable homes with responsible owners. The centre operates a re-homing procedure which aims to find the best placements for dogs who have been brought into their care.

All of the dogs are vaccinated, checked and wormed before being allowed to leave and adoption fees would include microchipping and first vaccinations. There is currently a range of breeds looking for a new home - including 10-week-old puppies.

Whether you're looking for an energetic dog who loves the outdoors or for a companion who loves a cuddle on the sofa, one of the dogs at the home could be the perfect match for you. So, if you feel like you could be a good match for one of the dogs below and meet their needs, you can find out more about the adoption process here.

Kylo

Kylo (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Staffy Kylo is a "handsome lad" who needs an active home. He doesn't like to be left alone and needs lots of exercise. Not suitable for first-time dog owners, Kylo needs an owner with breed experience who can take him to training classes and is home most of the time.

Kylo needs time to get to know new people and arrived at the home as a stray. He needs an adult-only home with bull-breed experienced owners and may be able to live with another neutered bull-breed depending on introductions at the centre.

Layla

Layla (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Harrier hound cross Layla has "clearly missed out on love". She was worried about her new surroundings when she arrived at the home and took some time to trust but "came to realise that she was safe and was able to accept love and affection" after she settled in.

She is hoping for a calm home where she is able to adjust at her own pace. The home adds: "Layla is very affectionate after getting to know new people. She is still learning about the world and can get slightly spooked with new sounds or fast movement. With lots of encouragement she soon settles back into the walk."

Velma

Velma (Cardiff Dogs Home)

"Lovebug" Velma is in need of an active home with someone who has breed experience. Poor Velma also struggles with her breathing when on the move and has additional medical needs. She is currently on medication for an ear infection, which is clearing up. Velma would prefer to live outside of the Cardiff area and would need her new owner to take her to training classes. Velma may be suitable to live with other neutered dogs and older children who are used to bull-breed play.

Sugar and Spice

Sugar and Spice (Cardiff Dogs Home)

"Sugar and Spice are definitely all things nice", Cardiff Dogs Home says. After being found alone, they arrived at the care of the centre. Sugar, the female, and Spice, the male, require a home with someone who is around most of the day to make sure they do not miss out on any relevant training.

The home would also like them to go to a home with another dog or dogs, or to be in regular contact with canines who they can befriend. They may be suitable to live with children, cats, and other dogs.

Audrey

Audrey (Cardiff Dogs Home)

French bulldog Audrey is two years old and has "not had the best start in life". While she has been through a lot of trauma, the home says that she is forgiving and adores humans. She is in need of a home with a calm routine and someone who is home the majority of the time.

"Audrey is a babe and deserves the best. She could potentially live with children who are respectful of her space. We would also be happy to do meet and greets with resident neutered dogs and cats," the home adds.

Labrador cross Poodle puppies

One of the puppies (Cardiff Dogs Home)

The home has a litter of five boys who arrived in their care due to a change of circumstances. The Labrador cross Poodle puppies are just 10 weeks old and need a home with someone who is there most of the time in order to receive training.

They would benefit from living with another dog or having regular contact with canines. They are also able to live with children of all ages and cats.

Choco

Choco (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Bulldog cross Choco is approximately two years old and arrived at the home due to a change of circumstances. He is a "favourite" with the staff and volunteers and loves to press up against people's legs for a fuss when he is comfortable.

He will require a calm home, where he is able to settle at his own pace and could potentially live with a neutered female dog. He can potentially live with children aged 16 or over. This is based on what we think would best suit his needs.

Dan

Dan (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Dan is a "mature gentleman" and a "right little love bug" who loves a good belly rub and has good manners when out walking. He would be best suited to an active mature home where he is able to settle in and become a loved family member. The Jack Russell terrier arrived at the home as a stray as is approximately 5-6 years old.

Mocha

Mocha (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Two-year-old Mocha is described as "affectionate" and would need an active home where she could get a lot of attention. She would prefer a household with bulldog experience and could live with children aged 12 and above who are comfortable with bouncy bulldog play. Mocha may be able to live with other neutered dogs who will be tolerant of a young bull breed.

Bella

Bella (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Bella is a smiley French bulldog who is an "absolute sweetie" and loves to meet new people. Currently working on her weight loss, Bella is in need of someone familiar with her breed who can keep her in top shape. She has come from a home with other dogs and children, and could therefore be placed with other animals and children based on introductions.

Poppy

Poppy (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Like Bella, four-year-old poppy loves to meet new people and is working on her weight loss. She will need to go to a home with someone familiar with the French bulldog breed in order to help keep her in top shape. Poppy has come from a home with other dogs and children. She could be placed with other animals and children based on introductions.

Coco

Coco (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Staffy Coco is an "absolute whirlwind" who loves toys, walks, and cuddles. She can make friends with anyone and can live with dogs of a similar energy level or children aged 10 or above who are used to Staffy play. She will need an active household that is able to dedicate time to her training

Yodena

Yodena (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Yodena arrived at the home in a "very sorry state" but is now "full of confidence". The home describes her as "just the funniest, sweetest little girl" and a well-mannered social butterfly. She currently requires medical baths which the home hopes to reduce over time.

She could potentially live with cats and children who are respectful. Medical records for previous animals will be a requirement so please attach them along with the application. The home adds: "She is very affectionate and loves cuddles. Due to Yodena being underweight when she arrived, she has still not realised that food is always going to be available. She does need to eat alone from the other dogs, due to be worried that the other dogs may steal her food. We can’t blame her and over time with training she will learn this is not ever going to happen."

Max

Max (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Terrier cross Max arrived at the home as a stray and is looking for a new home where he can be kept busy with lots of fun and games. "He walks well on the lead, apart from when he is finding the best sniff spots. Max would benefit from training classes to help build bonds with his new humans," the home adds.

Marge

Marge (Cardiff Dogs Home)

French bulldog Marge is a French bulldog cross who is a victim of "backyard breeding". As a result, she was born with some physical defects. While the home were concerned about her quality of life on arrival, she has shown us "she is a happy girl who loves her life." She will require a calm home with someone who will be able to monitor and provide her with care throughout her life and could live with children who are 15 or older.

Roxy

Roxy (Cardiff Dogs Home)

Four-year-old French bulldog Roxy is a "sensitive little soul" seeking a stable home. She would suit someone who is home full-time or is able to take her to a quiet work environment. The home adds: "Roxy is such a babe, very playful and full of sass although, she does struggle with change and does take a while to settle. Her anxiety gets the better of her and she will require lots of attention and care."

Waffle

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Three-year-old Waffle is a "sweet boy" who enjoys going for walks and has good manners while on the lead. He centre says he appears polite around other dogs but might benefit from training classes to help build bonds with new humans. He could potentially live with children, cats and other neutered dogs, although this will be based on introductions.

Patrick

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

While Patrick arrived at the home as a stray, he has grown in confidence and is described as a "little explorer". The "comical" little man is thought to be between three or four years old and is in need of an active owner to take him on long walks and other outdoor activities.

The Jack Russell cross would also require a lot of outdoor walking and does not like to be left alone. Patrick could potentially live with another energetic dog while cat introductions are also possible at the centre.

Suki

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Three-year-old Akita Suki is a "delightful lady" who the home says does "the best sit and paw". She plays well with toys and enjoys a lot of fuss being made of her.

She has been introduced to other dogs but requires further training on her social skills. Preferring males, she could potentially live with a neutered male dog of a similar size to her, although this will be based on controlled introductions at the centre. She requires a quiet home with an enclosed garden and would prefer to live outside of Cardiff.

Macavity

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Macavity is "full of life" and a "funny boy" who is looking for an active home. The Staffy cross is energetic, which means he can be somewhat over the top with his play, and is in need of an adult-only home as a result.

The five-year-old is focusing on calming methods and loose lead walking. The centre feels that he could potentially live with a female dog who has similar energy levels.

Billy

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Billy is a "cheeky" Staffy cross who is independent and has a sweet temperament. He loves nothing more than chewing on a tennis ball and, despite having just three legs, he is incredibly athletic. The centre's website adds: "Billy really is the best boy who deserves his own perfect forever".

Louie

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Louie has undergone a lot of change recently and the centre says it wants nothing more than to see the three-year-old bulldog "happy and living his best life". The "loyal companion" needs a quiet home with minimal visitors and a structured, slow, and steady training plan.

The home's website adds: "Louie is looking for a Bulldog experienced home who are able to work at his pace and give him time to adjust. [He] will need a quiet home with minimal visitors. He must be given a good routine when people visit, such as his own room or space with his favorite chews and toys to keep him occupied while he is alone. He should also have restricted access to the front door as Louie can become very stressed if the door knocks."

Alfie

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Alfie is a "little furry sidekick" who will keep you on your toes. The 12-year-old terrier is "absolutely full of beans in all aspects of his daily life", and loves nothing more than going on walks and being out exploring. While he could do with some training with other dogs, Cardiff Dogs Home feels that he could live with a female companion if introductions go well.

Bonnie

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

"Young at heart" Bonnie is a nine-year-old wire haired Jack Russell terrier mix who loves belly rubs and tennis balls. She needs a home where she will be kept physically and mentally stimulated, and the centre has advised that she should be enrolled onto training or agility classes.

While Bonnie has an injury to her lower lip she loves her food, and will need to be fed separately from other dogs. She is not able to live with other small furry creatures, but can potentially live with neutered dogs of similar energy and children who are respectful of her space. This is based on introductions, the centre says.

Misty

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Misty is eight and is described as a "distinguished lady" who is energetic and loves life. A Boxer cross, Misty is "always happy and ready to go" and loves to explore and rummage around in the toy box.

She requires a calm home "that is able to keep up with her" and where she won't be over-stimulated. Misty could possibly live with children who are aged 16 or older. She could also potentially live with other neutered dogs of similar size as her or resident cats.

Honey

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Honey is a two-year-old bulldog who the home says "just needs a break". She is an active girl who loves people, has good manners and is always up for a game of "zoomies". Honey is looking for an animal-free home "where she can be the only princess".

Cardiff Dogs Home adds that she "really needs a home who are committed to her training and settling" with her off button "sometimes malfunctioning". She also needs daily cleaning of her face folds and bottom. Honey can potentially be placed in a home with older children who are 16 or over who are confident with "crazy bulldog play".

Leo

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Nine-month-old Leo loves people but he needs help to learn that his humans will also love him. He often thinks that they are never coming back if he is left alone. The greyhound-collie cross is full of energy and "absolutely toy-mad". He is also a "brilliant walking buddy".

Leo needs owners who can help him grow in confidence, with someone who is patient and able to be flexible with work best suited to his current needs. Cardiff Dogs Home adds: "Leo would possibly love to live with neutered canine companions who can keep up with him. children who are used to large, energetic breeds will also be considered. This is all based on introductions."

Kenno

(Cardiff Dogs Home)

Nine-year-old American bulldog Kenno enjoys the finer things in life - a fan of puppachinos, soft toys, comfy chairs and rolling around in the garden. He also "goes nuts" for "zoomies" and loves to be in the water.

Kenno can be strong on the lead and a confident handler is sought to encourage him to go in the right direction. But, despite his independence, Kenno is looking for a calm retirement home with adults only. The centre is happy to do inductions with resident dogs, but feel that a calm neutered female of a similar size may be the best fit for the "older gentleman".
