Swiatek And Sabalenka To Face Off In Madrid Open Final

Top-ranked Iga Swiatek showcased her dominance in the Madrid Open semifinals by defeating Madison Keys in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3. Swiatek's solid performance sets up a highly anticipated final against defending champion Aryna Sabalenka.

Swiatek expressed her satisfaction with her game, stating, 'It was a pretty clean performance and really solid game from myself. I'm happy with everything.' This victory marks Swiatek's third final appearance this year, following triumphs in Indian Wells and Doha.

On the other side of the bracket, Sabalenka staged a remarkable comeback against Elena Rybakina, overcoming a first-set loss to win 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (5). Sabalenka, who won the Madrid title last year, is poised to challenge Swiatek once again in the final.

Reflecting on her performance, Sabalenka shared, 'I was just trying to fight for every point. I was hoping that I'll have the opportunity to turn this match around, and yeah, super happy that I was able to do that.'

Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev's quarterfinal match ended prematurely as he retired due to an upper right leg injury after dropping the first set 6-4. Jiri Lehecka advanced to the semifinals to face Felix Auger-Aliassime following Medvedev's withdrawal.

Despite the disappointment of her loss, Madison Keys found positives in her Madrid Open campaign, noting, 'It's been a while since I have won four matches in a row. Lots to build on. It's obviously great momentum going into Rome next week.'
