Authorities have confirmed that a suspect is in custody following a break-in at the official residence of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. The incident occurred on Sunday morning at around 6:40 a.m. when an individual smashed a window to gain entry to the Getty House, where the mayor resides.

Fortunately, Mayor Bass was inside the house at the time of the break-in, but no injuries were reported among her family members. A spokesperson for the mayor, Zach Seidl, expressed gratitude to the Los Angeles Police Department for their swift response in apprehending the suspect.

While the investigation is still ongoing, detectives are looking into whether the mayor was specifically targeted in this incident. The process of booking the suspect was reportedly underway as of Sunday evening.

The Getty House, a Tudor-style home located in the Windsor Square neighborhood of Los Angeles, is known for its historic significance and serves as the official residence of the city's mayor. The surrounding area features a collection of grand mansions, blending seamlessly with the mayor's residence.

Details about the motive behind the break-in have not been disclosed by the authorities. The Los Angeles Police Department has assured the public that the investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
