Strictly's Helen Skelton issues 'desperate' plea for help after suffering 'mum fail'

A "desperate" Helen Skelton took to Instagram to seek help from her fans after suffering a self-confessed "mum fail" with her oldest son.

The Strictly star, 39, posted on her Stories when she came up against the ultimate disaster - she couldn't get the seven-year-old youngster's video game working. And her son delivered a sassy remark as Helen sought help from the tech whizzes among her followers, The Express reports.

"In the words of my seven-year-old, 'You can get to the South Pole, but you can't set up Minecraft'. True son, true," she wrote. Helen then shared a picture of the video game set-up which showed several input source options, pleading: "Anybody know what this means? I'm desperate!"

The Countryfile star shares oldest son Ernie, five-year-old Louis and one-year-old daughter Elsie with her ex-husband Richie Myler. The pair split in April last year after eight years of marriage, and it was later revealed on Instagram that Richie's new girlfriend, Stephanie Thirkill, was pregnant with their first child.

Helen is currently on the Strictly Live Tour, a month on from being beaten to the Glitterball trophy in last year's series by Hamza Yassin. The tour kicked off in Birmingham on Friday night, and saw Helen and dance partner Kai Widdrington win the audience vote.

The star jumped in a car to be driven back home to Cumbria as soon as the tour ended its run in Birmingham to get back in time to take her sons to school after a few days away from them. Many fans were quick to speculate when it was announced that Helen's Strictly partner Gorka Marquez would not be her partner on the live tour - but the sweet reason why this is the case was revealed by Gorka's fiancée Gemma at the weekend.

Gemma confirmed on Instagram that the pair are expecting their second baby together, a boy, after welcoming their daughter Mia in 2019. "We feel so incredibly blessed and grateful to be on this journey again. Mia is absolutely thrilled!" Gemma said. "Although we may need to do some negotiating on names, as so far she’s adamant he’s going to be called Barbie."
