Stormy Daniels is set to take the witness stand once again in the hush money trial involving former President Donald Trump. The defense is aiming to challenge the credibility of Daniels' testimony regarding an alleged sexual encounter and the payment she received to remain silent.

The trial, which accuses Trump of attempting to illegally influence the 2016 presidential campaign by suppressing negative stories about him, resumed with Daniels' account being a focal point for the prosecution.

Daniels recounted an unexpected sexual encounter with Trump in 2006, a claim that Trump vehemently denies. The payment to Daniels was made by Trump's then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, in the final stages of the presidential campaign.

Trump, who has pleaded not guilty, maintains his innocence and portrays himself as a victim of a biased justice system. His defense team has worked to portray Daniels as a dishonest figure seeking to capitalize on her association with Trump.

During her testimony, Daniels faced intense questioning and denied allegations of extortion. The courtroom atmosphere was tense, with Trump visibly reacting to Daniels' statements.

The defense raised concerns about the prejudicial nature of Daniels' testimony, prompting a request for a mistrial, which was ultimately denied by the judge.

The charges against Trump include falsifying internal Trump Organization records related to the hush money payment to Daniels. Prosecutors argue that the payment was made to prevent further damage to Trump's reputation following the release of the infamous 'Access Hollywood' tape.

Trump's legal team contends that the payment was intended to protect Trump's personal life and family, rather than his political campaign.

The trial continues to be a focal point as voters weigh in on Trump's potential return to the White House in the upcoming election.
