Sparta Prague missing talisman ahead of trip to face Rangers

Sparta Prague are set to be without their talisman and captain Ladislav Krejci for their trip to play Rangers after a mystery injury.

The Czech champions play Philippe Clement's side on Thursday in the fourth round of games in the Europa League at Ibrox, with the group delicately poised.

But they will again be without key midfielder Krejci with Sparta boss Brian Priske opting against disclosing what injury the 24-year-old has picked up.

He played for his country a couple of weeks ago against the Faroe Islands, but has not been seen since.

Priske said: "Every player that we can't use and is unavailable due to injury, we miss. At the moment we are without Ladislav Krejci.

"We all know about the qualities of Ladislav, but he is simply not available at the moment. But that's football."

Krejci captained Sparta to their first title in nine years last season and was named Player of the Year in the Czech Republic for his performances.

But he won't be in Glasgow to face Rangers in the crucial showdown.

Meanwhile, Aberdeen are reportedly set to seek an even split of the ticket allocation for the Viaplay Cup final against Rangers.

Barry Robson's side will meet the Ibrox club at Hampden on Sunday, December 17 to fight it out for the first silverware of the season.

The Dons secured their place in the showpiece event with a victory over Hibernian on Saturday evening. A solitary Bojan Miovski goal was enough to seal the win, with Aberdeen forced to play the final 15 minutes, plus stoppage time, with ten men after Jack MacKenzie was sent off.

Philippe Clement's side joined them in the League Cup final as they coasted past Hearts yesterday. A James Tavernier double and a Scott Wright strike was more than enough for the Light Blues, as Lawrence Shankland scored a late consolation for the Edinburgh outfit.
