As the era of peak TV comes to an end, industry experts are looking towards a new chapter in television production. Wayne Garvie, President of International Production at Sony Pictures Television (SPT), recently shared insights at the TV festival SeriesMania on the evolving landscape of scripted TV.

Garvie highlighted the shift towards collaboration and co-production as a key trend in the post-peak TV era. He emphasized the importance of working with traditional free-to-air broadcasters on projects that have global appeal. One such example is Sony's upcoming period drama 'Dope Girls,' which features a stellar cast and a compelling storyline set in post-WWI London.

Garvie pointed out that the future of TV production will involve strategic partnerships with broadcasters and streaming services. He mentioned successful collaborations with BBC, ITV, and Paramount/Five in the UK, as well as upcoming projects like the Australian miniseries 'The Narrow Road to the Deep North.'

Addressing the competitive landscape, Garvie discussed Sony's approach to acquisitions, focusing on quality over quantity. He emphasized the company's long-term vision and commitment to nurturing acquired production companies within its portfolio.

Overall, Garvie's insights shed light on the changing dynamics of the TV industry and the importance of adaptability and innovation in the evolving media landscape.
