Short turnaround might be good for the Broncos this week

The Denver Broncos are coming off an ugly 31-21 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday, a defeat that dropped them to 1-4 on the season.

Following that loss, the Broncos now have a short turnaround before facing the 4-1 Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football this week. Moving on from Sunday’s game quickly and getting a chance to bounce back a few days later might be a good thing for Denver.

“I think it’s good and honestly, it’s like I told them in there — no one cares about what ails us or woes us,” coach Sean Payton said Sunday. “They want to see production, and that’s the business we’re in. We have a quick turnaround, a lot of recovery work tomorrow, a lot of game-plan film [on Monday], and then we’re onto practicing for Kansas City.”

The Broncos have lost 15 straight games to the Chiefs, an embarrassing streak that Payton will hope to snap on Thursday. Anything can happen in the NFL, especially in division games, but Denver is understandably considered a big underdog going on the road this week.

If the Broncos are going to have any hope of salvaging their season, they’ll need to upset the Chiefs in Kansas City on Thursday night.
