Staff and family of a daycare centre in northern Victoria, where a child was allegedly left in a bus for five hours, have been offered counselling as centre management confirms it is working with investigating authorities.
Shepparton three-year-old Alyza Morrison was hospitalised with heat stress on Friday, after allegedly being left in a Lulla's Children and Family Centre bus.
In a statement, management confirmed a child spent "an extended period of time on the centre's bus".
The daycare centre reopened today.
The bus service has been cancelled until further notice, according to a text message from Lulla's sent to parents and seen by the ABC.
The message outlined changes to the in-person drop-off and pick-up process.
"The centre will only allow entry for children and staff, beyond the gate, to ensure the safety of those attending each day," the text message said.
"A staff member will greet you at the front of the daycare entry gate off Edward Street, to facilitate sign-ins on arrival and for collection across the day."
In a statement, Lulla's Children and Family Centre said it was working with the Victorian Department of Education and other relevant agencies to ensure "this matter has been accurately reported and outcomes are enacted immediately".
"The staff and family affected have been offered counselling to support them through this process," the statement said.
"Children's safety is paramount, and we aim to take all practical steps to protect them from any form of harm."
