Seann Walsh hopes I'm A Celebrity stint will give career a boost as he heads into camp

Comedian Seann Walsh is hoping a primetime TV comeback can help him move his career on from 'that' Strictly Come Dancing kiss.

The 36-year-old was left with a shattered reputation when he kissed his pro partner Katya Jones on the 2018 series and since then has concentrated on his stand up career.

But he hopes to show a fun and lighter side on I'm A Celebrity and some show insiders have dubbed it a "second chance" for Seann which could give him a huge career boost.

One show source said: "Alongside Hancock there is hope Seann could look like the good guy. He is very funny and so we hope viewers will see that side."

The comedian hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons when he appeared on Strictly in 2018 (BBC)

Speaking on the Take Flight podcast last year Seann admitted the Strictly incident had scarred him and was difficult to move on from.

He said: "I wanted to be a comedian my whole life and leave my mark. You have to have belief that you can do something special... and that had gone with the kiss.

"It was the first time I'd lived without hope.

"I felt like I'd destroyed my dreams, who I was and why I got up in the day.

"And it's still all I think about. What my life could have been. What I could have made of myself is gone. And what do you do?"

However despite his pain, his comedy shows have continued to be critically acclaimed in recent years.

His Edinburgh show this year 'Seann Walsh: Is Dead. Happy Now?' Was nominated for Best Comedy show.

And reviews said it referenced the fallout of Strictly but also how he was getting his life back on track.

A review on comedy website Chortle said: "His big news is that he feels well for the first time since his world came crashing down. Some good might even have come from all this as, with the aid of a therapist, the comic is now trying to get his chaotic existence in order."

Part of getting his life in order will be heading into the jungle. When he returns from Australia he will also be preparing to become a dad.

The comedian and dance teacher Grace Adderley, 30, have been dating since 2019 - but now their relationship is heading to the next level by starting a family.

Seann revealed the news on an Instagram Live stream while on tour in October saying "I'm having a child" in a conversation with a friend.
