Scots residents stunned as road resurfacing workers tarmac around parked car

Edinburgh City Council staff have left local residents stunned after a whole road was resurfaced with an area under a parked car simply left out.

The maintenance work in Craighouse Gardens in the Morningside area of Edinburgh was carried out after the council gave prior notice, with cars towed if they were left on the street.

However, a solitary vehicle in the spot outside the Enterprise Car Club was simply ignored as workers instead worked around it.

An image of the car sitting on a patch of unrepaired road has gone viral - showing the road looking brand new apart from the section where the black Hyundai is parked, reports Edinburgh Live.

The resident who posted the picture said: "Looks like they missed a bit during the resurfacing works at Craighouse Gardens."

Residents were warned that vehicles would be moved away if they were parked in the street before the resurfacing work began.

Some were moved by the local authority, but the Hyundai remained. One passer-by said: "The road actually looks brand new now but I'm confused as to why one small patch has been left.

"Other vehicles were apparently removed by the council before the work begun so I don't know why this one wasn't.

"It does look quite daft and obviously workers will now have to return to resurface that spot once the car has been removed."

An Edinburgh City Council spokesperson said not every vehicle can always be removed from the street but areas which were worked around will be resurfaced at a later date and at no additional cost.
