Saudi Arabia welcomed on Wednesday the Australian government's announcement that it would no longer recognize West Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs hoped the international community would join efforts to find a just settlement for the Palestinian cause to achieve the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with international law and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The Ministry reiterated the Kingdom’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
