Sarah Jessica Parker reveals why Kim Cattrall decided to return for And Just Like That

Sarah Jessica Parker has candidly spoken about her former Sex and the City co-star Kim Cattrall's decision to return for a cameo in the second season of the show's spin-off, And Just Like That.

It has long been reported that there has been a feud between SJP and Kim, with the rumours and allegations starting up when the TV series Sex and the City ended in 2004.

And Liverpool-born actress Kim, 66, who is known for portraying the role of Samantha Jones in the Sex and the City franchise, was noticeably absent from the first season of the And Just Like That spin-off - but is due to make a cameo in the upcoming series which has just started airing.

But in a new interview, 58 year old Sarah sang the praises of Kim's character, Samantha Jones, returning, stating that they just wanted to pay a great tribute to Sex and the City's upcoming 25th anniversary.

"It was an idea that we had that was really about our 25 years and celebrating that," she explained. "She had surfaced in the first season, but this simply taking those texts and it puts a face with it. A gorgeous face, that we love, and that the audience has loved."

Sarah added to Channel Seven's Sunrise : "It's just a quick pop, it's just a phone call. And it's very much familiar.

"It will be nice to see, as a nod to those 25 years and the relationship we have with the audience."

This comes a few days after SJP broke her silence on Kim's cameo, stating it had been "really fun and exciting and certainly nostalgic", while also noting that it was "joyful" too.

Speaking about Kim's character Samantha making a return, Sarah told MailOnline: "We've been really thoughtful about the ways in which we've, you know, approached characters that hadn't been around, the ways we have invited actors back, and it's been, you know, really fun and exciting and certainly nostalgic, but I think more than that, it's been a lot of joy."

Kim's cameo is said to see Samantha on the phone with Carrie, with them not even in the same room while shooting.

When Sex and the City came to an end, there had already been reports that Kim, SJP, Kristin and Cynthia didn't get along in real life as well as their on-screen characters did.

And in 2017, a New York Post article claimed that SJP and Cynthia became pals on-set rather quickly, with them including Kristin, but leaving Kim feeling a little isolated.

And when Kim appeared on Piers Morgan's Life Stories she said: "We've never been friends - we've been colleagues," and added that SJP could have been kinder and "nicer".
