Saquon Barkley to Sign Three-Year Deal With Eagles, per Report

Former New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley agreed to a three-year, $37.75 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Barkley’s contract includes $26 million in guaranteed money and could be worth up to $46.75 million including incentives. If Barkley reaches all of the incentives, the deal will be worth an average annual value of $15.833 million, which would be the second-highest figure for a running back in NFL history.

On Monday afternoon, Barkley confirmed his exit from New York, tweeting two eagle emojis and thanking those who helped him in his first six pro seasons with the Giants.

Following the end of the 2023 season, Barkley’s future with the Giants became the subject of rampant speculation. He signed a one-year contract worth up to $11 million last July to shed the franchise tag, and he was eligible to be tagged again for the 2024 season. The Giants decided against tagging him and instead allowed him to hit the open market in free agency, leading to his signing with the NFC East-rival Eagles.

Barkley, a 2018 first-round pick by the Giants, racked up 5,211 rushing yards and 35 rushing touchdowns over his six years with New York. Now more than three seasons removed from an ACL tear, the Penn State product is coming off a 2023 campaign in which he recorded 962 yards and six rushing touchdowns.

The 27-year-old Barkley will replace D’Andre Swift, who reportedly agreed to a contract with the Chicago Bears earlier Monday.
