Ryan Reynolds lining up Wrexham duo for roles in next Marvel film with Hugh Jackman

Ryan Reynolds is ready to hand two Wrexham players a cameo role in his latest Deadpool movie.

Filming for Deadpool 3 is set to get underway later this month and Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds could include a couple of his Wrexham colleagues. Ben Foster and Paul Mullin have both been backed to feature in the film.

Reynolds wore a Wrexham baseball cap in the trailer for his most recent Deadpool movie and is an expert at combining his projects together. The next in the series is set to feature Wolverine Hugh Jackman and will be filmed in the UK at Pinewood Studios, which would be ideal for both Foster and Mullin.

The film is expected to be released next year. Wrexham executive director Humphrey Ker opened up on whether any players may feature in the movie. He said: "I would be quite surprised if not.

"Ryan is very good at you know, layering through all his part elements of his life and his career and everything, they all interconnect in all sorts of different ways. I'm sure they'll be, who knows, Paul Mullin to play an X-Man?"

Foster said: "Just been in for a chat with the chairman, the one and only Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds... He's even said that he'll put me in the new one with him and Big Hugh Jacko, friggin' Wolverine."

This comes three weeks after Wrexham lifted the National League title and secured promotion back to League Two for the first time in 15 years. The Red Dragons pipped Notts County in an enthralling title race and Reynolds could not contain his emotions after the full-time whistle.

He told BT Sport: "I am not sure I can process what happened tonight. I am still a little speechless.

"[People ask] 'Why Wrexham?'. This is why Wrexham. This happening, right now, is why. Boreham Wood showed up today. They are an incredible team. They have one of the best defences in the entire league."

"This entire story, the reason we are all on edge of our seats is because Notts County are so damn good," Reynolds added. "They deserve to go up. We are rooting for Notts County. We want to see them go up."

He also tweeted: "Everything I own smells like champagne, beer and grass. I’m still somewhere between giggling and sobbing. This town and this sport is one of the most romantic things on earth. Thank you, @Wrexham_AFC".

Wrexham will be joined by either Notts County or Chesterfield in League Two next season when the two face off in the National League final on Saturday afternoon. The Magpies finished 23 points ahead of the Spireites in the table but there can only be one winner at Wembley.
