Ryan Garcia Wants To Take On Devin Haney At The MGM In Las Vegas.

Ryan Garcia has criticized the choice to hold his fight with Devin Haney in New York on April 20 on social media.

One of the biggest events of the year pairs the former amateur rivals against one another at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. With the WBC super lightweight fight scheduled to take place on the East Coast, the venue has become much more of a talking point—especially in light of the challenger, Garcia, speaking out against it.

“This is a MGM Vegas fight, doing everything we can to bring this fight to Vegas and giving this fight what it deserves. This decision has nothing to do with NYC and everything to do with business and what I believe is the best move for my career,” said Garcia in his post on X.

“This dude is planning his escape,” responded Haney(31-0, 15KOs) in a post on X.

“Why are you trying to paint that picture to the public, towards the guy who is making you more money in your life and in your entire career – sad to see,” replied Garcia in a post on X.

Ryan a 25-year old American professional boxer, may succeed in getting his fight against Haney shifted from New York to Las Vegas if he exerts enough pressure and he has enough star power. It’s unclear if moving the fight to the MGM in Las Vegas from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York is still possible.

In the event that the MGM has been booked for the 20th of April, Ryan(24-2, 20KOs) may have to make do with competing in his title battle in New York versus WBC 140-pound champion Haney (31-0, 15 KOs).

If Ryan had made it clear to his Golden Boy promoters that he wanted the bout with Haney, 25, from the United States, to take place in Las Vegas before accepting the fight, they would have probably granted his demand. It’s unclear if the battle would have taken place on April 20th or at a later time. Depending on what was available in Vegas on that particular date. Ryan is the star of this DAZN PPV event, and the network and promoters want to make sure they get him right.
