Rutgers executed an Aussie punt to absolute perfection against Michigan

There is nothing more beautiful in football special teams than a perfectly executed Aussie punt, and Rutgers pulled one off with aplomb against Michigan on Saturday at The Big House.

After the Wolverines defense forced Scarlet Knights to punt on 4th-and-12, Rutgers punter Flynn Appleby caught Michigan off-guard by rolling out for an Aussie punt and booting the ball downfield for a 75-yard punt.

Of course, the Aussie punt is more commonly seen in Australian football and features the punter running to the side before dropping the ball and kicking it in motion.

It wound up working beautifully for Rutgers and it pinned Michigan far back into their side of the field.

Appleby hails from the land Down Under and has played Australian football professionally. He’s in his freshman year at Rutgers and is bringing an extremely fun twist to the Scarlet Knights’ punting game.

College football fans absolutely loved seeing Appleby execute this Aussie punt as well as he did, especially in such a place as The Big House.

CFB fans loved this Aussie punt so much.
