South Australia have picked up three key wickets early on the final day at Adelaide Oval to edge closer to a memorable win against Sheffield Shield leaders Western Australia.

WA are 5-262, still 206 runs off a mammoth 468-run victory target.

The visitors' last recognised batsmen are currently at the crease with Josh Inglis 32 not out and Marcus Stoinis unbeaten on 21.

The day began perfectly for the hosts with Nathan McAndrew securing a faint edge from Cameron Bancroft's bat in just the second over.

Bancroft added just one to his overnight 79, having confidently helped Western Australia advance to 2-139 late on day three.

Hilton Cartwright was next to depart, caught sharply at first slip by Ben Manenti off Brendan Doggett for 50.

Spinner Manenti then did damage with the ball by having Aaron Hardie caught behind for 40.

The Redbacks are chasing a second successive Shield win after finishing bottom of the standings in each of the past five seasons.
